The snow melts, reviving waterfalls, rivers, and lush green valleys, while wildlife becomes more active. It’s also a great time to visit Rishikesh and Tehri Dam for water sports or go camping in Kanatal and Chopta. The famous Char Dham Yatra begins in May, attracting thousands of pilgrims. Wildlife safaris in Jim Corbett National Park are also a highlight during this season.
Since this is the best time to go Uttarakhand for most travelers, accommodations fill up quickly, so booking in advance is highly recommended.
Winter (December – February)
For those who love snow and winter adventures, December to February is the best time to visit Uttarakhand. The landscape turns into a magical white paradise, and destinations like Auli, Nainital, and Mussoorie become winter hotspots.
Auli is particularly famous for skiing and snowboarding, while trekking routes like Kedarkantha, Chopta, and Brahmatal offer mesmerizing snowy trails. If adventure isn’t your thing, you can simply relax in a cozy hill station and enjoy the scenic snowfall.
Due to high demand, hotels and tour packages can be expensive, so planning ahead is a good idea.
